The four older chickens met the new girls. It is the end of the gardening season, so chickens can’t do too much damage with their scratching in the flower beds anymore, and I let the old ladies out of their electric fenced area. Well, they quickly waddled up to their fave spots in the upper garden, and inevitably, they met the new girls. The new girls are still in the fenced area that goes with the permanent coop. The old ladies saw them, and seemed to be thinking,“hey, new people moved into our old place!”, while the younger ones were miffed that there were chickens running free when they themselves couldn’t. So nobody was very pleased, and I left them to work out their disappointment by themselves.
I'm Ipek, farmer at DewGreen Farm. And these posts are a slice of life at DewGreen.
I call DewGreen a "tiny mighty farm". Tiny because small lets me see that my life touches the sacred every day as I feed the soil, animals and people in this little place that grows good food, offers peace to all who visit, and provides a happy home for me and my animals.
