I am proud of myself: Last night I severed a relationship with a meat distributor. His way of doing business was showing signs of the classic "squeeze the supplier" strategy: "If you won't meet my preferred date, I will have to make other arrangements"; "If I buy year-round, the price will have to be lower". "No, I decided I don't want the 10 chickens". Well, good luck elsewhere, Charlie! I will throw my lot in with my community that understands fair dealing. I stand taller today for having said "no" to this person.
It is a cold and beautifully fresh day. I think I will go out and finish the fall cleanup in my perennial gardens -- I cut everything down, but the snow came before I could take the debris to the compost pile. A cup of tea, then out into the gardens! then a classic Christmas eve fish dinner with my beloved Louie.
