As farmers, we understand that pasture farming is climate action, as grazing animals remove carbon from the atmosphere and return it to the soil. Our flocks also help restore soil biology with the nutrients in their manure and urine. In winter they enjoy top quality local hay, organic minerals plus nutrient-dense foods. These practices ensure excellend soil and animal health. As a result we do not use antibiotics, de-wormers, tick repellents or synthetic fertilizers.
Besides our ongoing apprenticeship to the soil, DewGreen teaches us to deepen and widen our hearts more than we could ever imagine: Farming has incredible heart-breaks, like when an animal dies after you sit with him night after night, and it has priceless moments like when you find yourself riding a sheep rodeo because you straddled the sheep to do a health check and he takes off with you on him, 'cause you didn't lift his chin to keep him still.
